Hipstamatic

ShakeitPhoto

Hipstamatic

I got an Iphone a few months ago and like most people who have one you peruse the app store searching for apps high and low. As a photographer I find myself in the photography section more often than usual. Out of the 100,000 plus apps I found two apps that really gave me a new outlook in photography.
One was the "Hipstamatic" which is basically a digital holga. The other is the "Shakeitphoto" app which is a polaroid app. They both work well and look great. But most importantly it give me a new love for point and shoot photography that I lost when I moved to medium format.

Andyhow.com

Sometime ago I was fortunate to win a free website. Ironically the current website had just expired and it seemed to work out just fine. With a lot of time and patients I went through my entire catalog of photos to figure out what should be on the new site and what should not. It was rather hard to go from twelve pictures to almost and infinite amount. None the less I edited and edited and edited to see what would give the viewer a accurate view of what I can do with a camera.
Since it will not launch until the new year I decided to give a sneak peak of what to come. I have a lot of different things from the current 100 project to the now extinct Polaroids. Some editorial things made the cut. None the less here is a sneak peak!!

Enjoy

100

So I had this whole back story about how my book got started but it got really long and boring.

For the past few years I've been working on the book of 100 home portraits. The process is as simple as can be. I come to someones house, apt, dorm, or where ever they live. I take a quick tour of the place to figure out where I want to sit them. The rest is kinda self explanatory. I sit them down I set up my camera and I photograph them. We talk about life, pop culture, and so on and so forth.

I am almost finished shooting the 100 so its time to start the word about my book!!

Polariod

I have always been a fan of the Polaroid. As a kid the instant gratification that it provides is great. Even as an adult hearing that sound of the camera spitting out the polariod, and waiting and anticipating as the white square takes shape. Shadows form, faces become people you love or hate. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and summer BBQ's have all been infused with the history of polariods. From the hard core artist to the mom recording her son's first birthday they have been around. And now there not. Its pretty obvious that the digital age would pretty much bring things to an end. But like I said before, a digital camera can't provide that moment of waiting. That moment of excitement we I used to wait and see what was gonna happen.

Heres to you Polaroid
